Faultline readers may be unfamiliar with a technology within the AWS powerhouse called Wavelength, which has been brought to our attention by French CDN specialist Broadpeak, as a mechanism for delivering ultra-low latency applications to 5G devices. Broadpeak, a company with a penchant for being ahead of the curve, has just deployed its advanced CDN technology on AWS Wavelength for streamlined video delivery via 5G networks. The secret sauce is provided by Multi-Access Edge (MEC) technology to bring services to the edge of the network, in turn minimizing latency by allowing Broadpeak’s local cache servers to deliver video traffic requested directly to 5G devices, instead of having content sent from a far flung land.
