The crème de la crème of cable technology were supposed to blow our minds with a futuristic live demonstration during the opening session of SCTE-ISBE Cable-Tec Expo. Expectations remained relatively low, but even still, this was an anti-climax if ever we saw one – featuring a couple of pre-recorded interactive holographic demonstrations. Pulling off a hologram is no walk in the park. Capturing and delivering true light rays in real-time requires hundreds of cameras, a seriously powerful and stable internet connection, and technologies capable of rendering millions of pixels’ worth of data.
