Unlike in the mobile world, where the “G” in 5G and other cellular predecessors stands for “Generation”, the “G” in 10G from the Comcast-backed cable realm has been misleadingly used as a symbol of unrealistic superior speeds for fixed-line broadband networks. The US National Advertising Division has finally recognized this, warning Comcast to drop 10G from its “Xfinity 10G” advertising campaigns, following complaints by telco rivals Verizon and T-Mobile.
