Remote production specialist LiveU has a new owner, after the Carlyle Group acquired the firm from Francisco Partners, which had bought LiveU for $200 million in 2019. No price has been given, but sources report a $400 million valuation. Carlyle says it will seek to further consolidate LiveU’s market position via M&A, which could trigger something of an arms race in the sector. What the cloud production segment is not short of, however, are investment opportunities for LiveU, now that it is being bankrolled by Carlyle.
