Comcast came out this week and said that just about anyone on the Comcast Xfinity network can now order xFi Pods to take WiFi throughout their home in a multi-Access Point (multi-AP) configuration. The XFi Pods are from start-up Plume which won a deal with Comcast last year, and which had the unenviable task of not only writing a software agent to run on one home gateway to collect KPI data about how well each AP is working, but also had to adapt it to the new Xfinity boxes too, now powered by Quantenna 8 x 8 MIMO chips.
