Advertising and data hawker Comscore has found that US audiences are fast adopting ad-supported content. As part of a 21% increase in the number of hours watched on connected TVs, the bulk of new growth was for AVoD and FAST, claims Comscore, in its 2023 State of Streaming report. Between May 2022 and May 2023, the number of hours of streaming watched in the US grew from 9.6 billion to 11.5 billion. However, the ‘top six’ streaming apps (Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Disney’s Hulu, Netflix, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max, and YouTube) only accounted for 25% of new growth.
