In the wake of IBC, we’d like to avoid anything resembling a dashboard displaying “actionable insights” for a good few months, but in the meantime it’s clear there is increasing demand for tools of all shapes and sizes which can provide operators, broadcasters, media outfits and more with an inkling of what to actually do with their data. “We would be stupid not to be looking at building an Android TV operator tier launcher,” was a fitting line from one of our first briefings at this year’s IBC, coming from homegrown app developer Metrological Media, one of few vendors not currently working with the technology which is perhaps surprising given the vendor’s long experience with Android-based set top hardware.
