New year, new OTT platform. Discovery+ has arrived on streaming devices including Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV, and Apple TV. Boasting a worryingly low, yet competitive, price tag, as well as decent-sized distribution deals on both sides of the Atlantic, the main thing Discovery+ lacks is vaults of prized original content. Discovery+ hosts content from all of Discovery’s networks, including HGTV, The Food Network, TLC, ID, OWN, Animal Planet and Magnolia Network. But the service still must expand its distribution footprint, with many smart TV manufacturers and operators, such as Comcast, not yet supporting the platform.
