Dish Network’s parent company EchoStar is edging towards bankruptcy, after Q2 2024 earnings exposed a crushing 8.8% revenue decline triggered by 104,000 video subscriber cancellations and 18,000 fewer wireless subscribers. When EchoStar announced the reacquisition of Dish Network in 2023, completing a $26 billion deal in January 2024, the expectation was always that new EchoStar would morph gradually over a period of many years into a pure wireless business.
