More than four years on from the acquisition of Espial by Canadian software and services house Enghouse Networks, the Espial IPTV technology (of former Arris ownership) has a new public pay TV operator customer, naming Texas-based GVTC Communications. Now branded as EspialTV, following the $42 million deal completed in May 2019, the SaaS IPTV platform has been selected to bring video streaming services to GVTC Communications’ customer base (of an undisclosed size). Shifting to a SaaS-based TV business model is what attracted Enghouse to Espial in the first place, foreseeing a gradual migration away from legacy on-premises infrastructure at smaller regional cable TV operators like GVTC.
