A map visualizing the most popular streaming services by country has gone viral. While aesthetically pleasing, the map would look very different if the creators, Visual Capitalist, had bothered to factor in the number of Amazon Prime subscribers who actually use Amazon Prime Video. As a result, the map (pictured below) presents a skewed global picture where Amazon Prime Video sits proudly as the most popular video streaming service in the US. This simply isn’t true. Amazon does not publicize Prime subscribers. Estimates count anywhere between 148 million and 168 million Prime subs in the US in 2022.
