The battle for the connected TV operating system was another theme running through Connected TV World Summit. A panel saw Google ganged up on by two rival TV OS developers in Foxxum and Vidaa, the Hisense spin-out. Google, despite being well-versed in monopoly, is playing the fragmentation card – projecting that a splintering in the TV OS marketplace will create more competition. Foxxum and Vidaa, meanwhile, are each firm believers of continued consolidation in the TV OS until one winner emerges in a post-apocalyptic scenario.
