Huawei has launched a 10 Gbps HFC access platform at the Anga Com show this week, claiming to be an industry first to support 10G DOCSIS 3.1 in cable and 10G PON (Passive Optical Network) in fiber. The Chinese telco equipment manufacturer says the platform frees up around 70% of space in the headend and also improves the preference by up to 30% over coax. It includes a large-capacity OLT (Optical Line Terminal) for optical aggregator, high-density 10G PON interface board, DOCSIS 3.1 based D-CCAP, 10G PON ONT (Optical Network Terminal) and a unified network management system.
