CableLabs CTO & SVP Belal Hamzeh has raised eyebrows and even more questions with his emphasis on adding computing power and virtualization to the industry’s baseline cable connectivity platforms, particularly given how Covid-19 has inhibited the group’s project Adrenaline progress. Following up Hamzeh’s comments, CableLabs Principal Architect Randy Levensalor sought to slow the down pace somewhat. Speaking during the Cable Next Gen Europe Digital Symposium from Light Reading, he underscored how the addition of computing power and virtualization can occur in the headend, or in the hub, or in the node.
