InterDigital codec dive plots potential uplift for EVC, AI-based roadmap

Cellular and video IP-slinger InterDigital has published a paper on The State of Video Codecs. In the wake of NAB, it explores the recent history and future roadmap of the compression tools, with potentially promising news for EVC and an examination of AI-based initiatives. However, there are a few hints at the politics at play, given the messy lay of the land between the different patent pools and standards organizations.
