From metadata aggregation to pirate dissipation, ITV is back with another case study. The British broadcaster has recruited anti-piracy services from homegrown vendor Friend MTS to protect international distribution of its linear channels. This is an atypical content security story, because anti-piracy deployments are typically focused on protecting the illegal redistribution of exclusively paywalled content, which ITV is not. In the UK, all ITV’s linear channels are available free to view, on broadcast or streaming, which are monetized by advertising.
