Akamai has released its State of the Internet Report for Q2 2015, with results showing that global internet speeds are up 17% year-over-year (YoY), with South Korea retaining its top spot with an average connection speed of 23.1 Mbps. But disappointingly the global average speed was 5.1 Mbps, albeit up from 4.5 Mbps in Q1, and this increase shows no sign of abating, based on data gathered from Akamai’s Intelligent Platform, which it says handles approximately two trillion daily requests, from well over a billion web users.
