In Brazil, Mileto Tecnologia is planning to launch a new OTT video service that it hopes will break the IP video curse of its newly inherited TV assets. Mileto barged onto the pay TV radar after acquiring the satellite TV business from major Brazilian operator Oi in 2025, following Oi’s restructuring process. This deal expanded Mileto’s repertoire from telecom infrastructure and managed services, to direct-to-consumer DTH video operations, along with the remnants of a failed TV Everywhere platform. Oi was in serious financial trouble following its record bankruptcy in 2016, in the wake of Brazil’s infamous 2015 recession.
