Five years ago this week… Barely a month after rebranding from Ericsson Media Solutions to MediaKind, the video services company signed a deal with Canadian tier 2 operator Cogeco Connexion, to launch an IPTV service. Faultline saw the new service as essentially MediaFirst on an Android set top base, spelling bad news for TiVo, whose set tops would no longer be offered to new customers at the service’s launch in mid-2019. Cogeco’s IPTV service, dubbed EPICO, was eventually launched in January 2021.
