Five years ago this week… Nokia crashed out of the IP video business on the eve of IBC, selling it to Canadian Volaris group, in a bid to re-create the Velocix CDN brand it acquired in 2009. This was the third such departure of IP video businesses from large tech conglomerates after Ericsson and Cisco similarly separated from their core IP video branches. Nokia remained a minority shareholder in Velocix and said it would act as major channel partner for the company around the world. The following IBC was thus the first for the newly-reformed Velocix, as well as Synamedia and MediaKind. Warner Bros.
