Five years ago this week… A year on from its acquisition by Comcast, Sky was talking about bringing huge swathes of personalization technology in-house. A newly minted department had been tasked with creating tools to accelerate activities in machine learning to drive personalization activities, while working with teams across the Sky business such as the AdSmart addressable technology. Much of the work at the time was going into how to manipulate sensors in the home to improve the user experience, such as microphones for voice control.
