The hotly debated digital copyright reform in Europe, dubbed a vote for mass internet censorship, has been rejected by Members of the European Parliament (MEPs). However, they will reconvene in September to assess an alternative version of the controversial law. Famous faces including Paul McCartney and Annie Lennox could not sway MEPs, who will now return to the drawing board, while vocal anti-reform activists, such as Wikipedia co-founder Jimmy Wales, celebrated the decision.
