Tribune Media has scrapped its $3.9 billion takeover by Sinclair Broadcast and has initiated a lawsuit against the company, the largest owner of broadcast stations in the US. This comes following vocal objections from FCC Chairman Ajit Pai claiming Sinclair had retracted certain details regarding the merger. “To maintain control over stations it was obligated to sell, Sinclair engaged in unnecessarily aggressive and protracted negotiations with the Department of Justice and the FCC over regulatory requirements,” said a Tribune statement.
