Five years ago this week… T-Mobile USA turned the tables on its US rivals, allowing 24 of the most popular OTT video services to travel its network for free with its Binge On offering. This generosity was passed onto the customer, who could stream any of the selected services in 480p for no extra cost. The only catch was this limit on streaming quality, but 480p was – and largely still is – ideal for a phone. Of course, T-Mobile’s rivals were keen to sling mud at the “lousy” video quality.
