Over 4 million flee TV in 2019 – why so glee, AT&T?

AT&T closed out the decade on 20.4 million total video connections and by the time the company’s next set of results come around, 20 million TV subscribers will be a distant memory. Will AT&T ever climb back above 20 million video subscribers? If the US operator’s own optimism is anything to go by (spoiler – it’s not), then the company’s forthcoming OTT video ventures will more than recoup the millions of viewers and billions of dollars which have fled for cheaper, more appealing, easier to use, and more advanced offerings. Collectively, the DirecTV and AT&T TV Now business lines lost 4.1 million net subscribers last year – a churn rate of more than 340,000 customers every single month for 2019…
