After first revealing plans at the IFA trade fair in Berlin last month, Deutsche Telekom has launched its new OTT offering more or less on time as promised. Yet a surprise factor lay in wait, as the German operator has also rebranded its main IPTV platform Entertain TV – marketing both services as Magenta TV. Is this an attempt to make Entertain TV look and sound less like a pay TV offering, or to conceal the OTT version under a large umbrella to more easily push additional packages to unsuspecting subscribers?
