As Proximus scales out its Android TV Operator Tier platform, the Belgian operator is deploying additional technology to support its existing content delivery network infrastructure. The latest addition to the Proximus technology stack is CDN vendor Velocix, which initially signaled a potential conflict of interests as we know Proximus has also installed distributed video delivery network technology from Swedish vendor Edgeware. That was until Proximus’ Thierry Demoor, Head of Digital Products and Solutions Platforms, clarified with Faultline that Edgeware is the incumbent supplier for real-time streaming delivery via the RTMP messaging protocol, while Velocix is the operator’s new supplier for HTTP delivery.
