Europe will play host to the formation of a new media monolith if France’s TF1 and M6 groups are allowed to merge. The plan is to roll the streaming services MyTF1 and 6play together to form a single live TV and catch-up portal to rule them all, alongside a standalone SVoD offering. Presumably, that SVoD offering is Salto, although the fact that neither TF1 nor M6 have addressed the SVoD option directly by name – which they operate jointly with France Televisions – is disconcerting to say the least.
