Sharp Corporation of Japan has sold its Mexican TV factory and the rights to use the Sharp brand in North and South America to China’s Hisense. The deal will cost the Chinese manufacturer £23.7 million, which sounds like quite a bargain, were it not surviving on such small margins on large volumes of sales. Nonetheless, Hisense is one of the largest TV makers in the world, and the Sharp brand in the Americas (except Brazil) could give it an avenue to selling sets with higher margins.
