NBCUniversal’s self-titled “Global Streaming Platform” has not had all that much airtime. Initially developed as the infrastructure workhorse behind Peacock, the technology stack is now known to power several of the company’s global streaming services in some 80 countries spanning 3 continents—including SkyShowtime in Europe and Showmax in Africa. The final jewel to that crown is Sky’s Now (née Now TV) streaming platform in the UK, which has finally been migrated to NBCU’s Global Streaming Platform, per an announcement made at an event in London this week.
