Plugging the gap in our third quarter 2020 pay TV subscriber analysis, Dish Network came out last Friday with an unforeseen turn of events – appearing to mirror Charter Communications’ miraculous cable TV recovery onto the satellite TV sector with a net increase of 116,000 video subscribers. Dish Network’s answer to OTT video, Sling TV, has not exactly been a roaring success since its early head start. In the latest quarter, however, Sling TV came to Dish’s aid, as 200,000 subscriber additions more than offset the 90,000 losses incurred on the satellite pay TV service during the third quarter.
