The proposed merger between Zee Entertainment Enterprises, India’s largest media group, and Sony Pictures Network India has been interpreted by some as a distraction from deep unrest within the group and its shareholders, something which has been clear to Faultline ever since Tarun Katial, former CEO of the Zee5 video streaming business, was forced to resign from his post in November 2020.
