Swedish operator Telenor Sweden has taken its own preventative measure against the disruptive piracy trend of CDN leeching, by deploying the new CDN Director product from Agile Content – which includes use of common access tokens to prove that subscriber requests are legitimate, and not from hackers. This comes just weeks after Synamedia announced a new working group as part of CTA Wave (Web Application Video Ecosystem), called the CAT (Common Access Token) Project, which creates single use tokens encoded with keys for a specific request, unique to a specific client, guaranteeing that tokens cannot be reused and therefore sold for pittance by pirates on the dark web.
