UK regulator Ofcom could be about to set a significant precedent for regulatory bodies the world over by banning use of the word fibre/fiber in any broadband communications that do not explicitly relate to FTTH/P (fiber to the home/premises – used interchangeably). The decision, on which Ofcom is poised to consult, would do more than ruffle a few feathers at broadband service providers in the UK market.
