US connected security specialist Verimatrix launched its debut blockchain product last week after a couple of years of talking about applying the technology to the content ecosystem. Given Verimatrix has increasingly been talking about securing a broader spectrum of connected devices, it was surprising to see that its new open source distributed ledger technology (DLT), called Veriteem, seemed to be geared purely to IoT use cases, but Verimatrix has since confirmed our suspicions that the technology’s scope is indeed much broader.
