The combination of 5G and various forms of machine learning (ML) has breathed new life into audiovisual content distribution by helping contain the bandwidth of increasingly rich and high-quality content. There are other angles across the whole AV chain, from pre-production to content consumption, where 5G Broadcast is making an impact as a complement or even alternative to traditional over-the-air transmission. This was reflected last month in the formation of the 5G Broadcast Collective as a new non-profit broadcast industry body, to promote the technology and help deploy 5G Broadcasting throughout the world.
