Vodafone’s fast-changing video strategy, one now exclusively heading towards Android TV, is evolving again. In Spain, the operator is switching out another footprint of legacy set tops, this time replacing TiVo hardware. Meanwhile, in Germany, Vodafone Deutschland has expanded its supplier relationship with Synamedia, to include the UK-based vendor’s Clarissa analytics suite. Neither incident is unexpected. They are natural next steps in Vodafone’s ongoing telco TV transition, as one of Europe’s more successful (for now) operators-turned-aggregators. Vodafone has been playing around with Synamedia’s Clarissa toolset in other territories within its footprint, so the expansion into Germany – Vodafone’s largest TV market with 12.9 million subscribers – is affirmation of Clarissa’s capabilities.
