Intertrust has been an almost indomitable force in the Asia Pacific digital security market, particularly in Japan, where it continues to dust off suggestions that the Marlin ExpressPlay DRM technology might be ready to lay down and die. The company has done just that again this week – wrestling control of some 30 million monthly active users via a content protection deal at Indian OTT platform SonyLIV. All live and on-demand content streamed on SonyLIV will be secured by Intertrust’s multi-DRM ExpressPlay product in advance of an expansion effort from SonyLIV that will see it soon branch into a number of additional South Asian countries.
