At the WiFi Offload Forum this week in Palo Alto California, many of the presentations were focused not on the issue of WiFi Offload, but more on what you can do with WiFi, that you cannot do with Cellular, and much of that focused on monetization of what is often a free service. Far from being a slow backwater, the idea of somehow offering WiFi for free in a retail environment has really taken off as a key differentiator for US retail establishments, a shift that has also been happening across Europe, although there it is not so advanced or as intense.
