Back in November we saw DirecTV offer 4K to its customers, as long as they had a compatible Samsung 4K TV. Now Comcast has followed suit, and Sony’s PlayStation Now game streaming service has been confirmed to appear on Samsung TVs imminently. Not content with these content deals, Samsung has also joined the new UHD Alliance, alongside some heavyweight names. The UHD Alliance sees CPE manufacturers, Hollywood studios, content distributors and post-production firms uniting under one banner, ostensibly to “set the bar for next-gen video entertainment by establishing new standards to support innovation in video technologies, including 4K and higher resolutions (hence the name), high dynamic range (HDR), wider color gamuts and 3D audio.” The full list of members reads:…
