Our assumption that French OTT technology provider Arkena had quietly dropped its CDN from its product portfolio were finally confirmed at the TV Connect trade show in London this week. The only details the company would reveal behind this decision were that the costs of maintaining an in-house CDN had risen too high, and that it was simply not seeing the return on investment it had expected. Back in June last year, Arkena announced a deal with Akamai for global CDN services, marking the end of its own CDN business which it initially inherited from SmartJog.
