Newly merged UK fixed-mobile operator Virgin Media O2 is battling it out with BT for the hand of Sky – or more specifically Comcast – for assistance with the mammoth financial task of building out FTTH network infrastructure. National news outlets reported earlier this week that Sky was close to agreeing a deal with Virgin Media O2, in a partnership that would see Sky sink money into expanding the fixed fiber network of Virgin Media O2 to 80% of the country’s homes.
