The painstaking task of cherry-picking the best bits from an otherwise flaccid virtual IBC Showcase continued into this week. Themes like cloud-native services, multi-CDN, edge compute, and remote production tools featured prominently again, with plenty of spit balling about what these technologies can enable in a post-pandemic environment, without much real direction. Perhaps most pertinent of all was the appearance of Jim Helman, waving the MovieLabs flag for interoperability exactly a year after the group set out its vision for the future of media creation at IBC 2019.
