As part of its 2030 Vision for a streamlined cloud-based content production utopia, MovieLabs has published the first of its common ontologies within software-defined workflows for movie studios. It starts with the Ontology for Media Creation (OMC), a conceptual framework and set of defined terms with the goal of enabling greater data interoperability between both software and people. This is followed by work on the MovieLabs Visual Language, which the non-profit Hollywood R&D group believes will help drive a common way to visually express workflows that, together with the Ontology for Media Creation, will enable software-defined workflows and automation.
