Five years ago this week… Israeli video optimization specialist Beamr acquired HEVC and AVC technology provider Vanguard Video in a bid to claw its way to the top of the encoding pile. It looked as though Beamr could be gearing up to fill the hole that was left by a string of top-tier codec acquisitions – most notably AWS’ acquisition of Elemental.
